P\u00e1teo do Col\u00e9gio<\/strong> marks the site where the city was founded in 1554<\/strong>. It is the place where the first mass was held on January 25, 1554, the same date that the Apostle Paul<\/em> converted to Christianity. That\u2019s why the mass is dedicated to him and the name \u201cSao Paulo\u201d is chosen as a tribute to represent the place that is now called \u201cS\u00e3o Paulo de Piratininga<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in Parque da Independencia<\/strong>, the Ipiranga Museum<\/strong>, also known as Museu Paulista<\/strong>, is the oldest public museum in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong>. The museum was built in a place of great historical importance for Brazil, it was there, on the banks of the Ipiranga River that Dom Pedro I<\/em> proclaimed Brazil’s independence from Portugal, on September 7, 1822<\/strong>. EDIF\u00cdCIO MARTINELLI (MARTINELLI BUILDING)<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known for its historical value, the Martinelli building<\/strong> was completed in 1929. It has 28 floors and was not only the first building to be built in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo but also the first in Latin America. ESTA\u00c7\u00c3O DA LUZ (LUZ STATION)<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed by the British Charles Henry Driver, Luz Station<\/strong> was opened in March 1901. It is one of the most important in S\u00e3o Paulo, around 400 thousand passengers pass through it every day. For the construction of Luz Station<\/strong>, metal structures, as well as other materials, were brought from England. The strong architectural influence also came from England, as it is possible to identify similarities with Big Ben and Westminster Abbey in the composition of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2006, it has also housed the Museu da L\u00edngua Portuguesa (Portuguese Language Museum).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The S\u00e3o Bento Monastery<\/strong> is a religious complex composed of the Abacial Basilica Nossa Senhora da Assun\u00e7\u00e3o, the Col\u00e9gio de S\u00e3o Bento and also the Faculdade de S\u00e3o Bento.
Mass with Gregorian chant<\/strong> is the highlight of this place. The main session takes place on Sundays at 10 am.
