Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma<\/strong>, in partnership with the S\u00e3o Paulo office FGMF Arquitetos, the Japan House<\/strong> building located on Avenida Paulista<\/strong>, has a privileged space of 2,600m\u00b2, filled with exhibitions and events that change frequently, as well as shops, cafes, restaurant, library and seminar rooms.
The facade’s louvres are made of Hinoki wood, a species of pine native to Japan. Six tons of Hinoki, from sustainable management, were brought from Japan to construct the building’s facade. It was also necessary to bring five artisans specialized in the art of wood fittings, an ancestral knowledge dominated by the Japanese. The result is a facade that does not go unnoticed by anyone passing by on the street, as it is truly a work of art that arouses curiosity and invites the public to discover what is inside.
Japan House<\/strong> Sao Paulo (JHSP) was opened in 2017 and its mission is to present contemporary Japan and offer visitors a perfect translation of 21st century Japan, not forgetting its roots and traditions and combining art, technology and business, as a way of strengthen the bridge between the two countries.
Celebrating Japan from different perspectives, the institution promotes a wide range of free events and exhibitions<\/strong> in areas such as architecture, technology, gastronomy, fashion and art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are interested in visiting the Japan House Sao Paulo, you can schedule a free visit on the official website. Booking in advance is optional but recommended, this way you will avoid unpleasant surprises, as there can be a lot of traffic on weekends and there may be a queue outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
