In 1925, the original construction gave way to the grandiose project of architects Cristiano Stockler das Neves and Samuel das Neves. Completed in 1938, the new station was inspired by the terminals of Grand Central Station in New York, whose high-ceilinged hall gave the station a feeling of luxury and spaciousness. Originally, it was called Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana and its objective was, in addition to transporting passengers, to transport coffee production that came from the interior of the country.
Currently, Julio Prestes Station<\/strong> houses the headquarters of the S\u00e3o Paulo Department of Culture and the concert hall called Sala S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sala S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong> has 1484 seats and 22 boxes. Designed by architect Nelson Dupre, this beautiful concert space followed the most modern technical-acoustic parameters. The great technological innovation was the construction of a movable ceiling, made up of plates that can be lowered or raised to adjust the sound quality, according to the type of music being played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the concert hall, there are other spaces available for rent for private events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
