Brazilian Coffee

saopaulostopover.com.br, 9 de November de 20234 de June de 2025

WHERE TO FIND

.Coffee Shops

In São Paulo, there are several coffee shops spread across the city, from the simplest to the most sophisticated. In some of them it is possible to find special coffees, taste them on site and take a package of Brazilian Coffee home. Unlike the coffee in large cups easily found in the United States, here, coffee is usually served in smaller quantities, but with a stronger intensity. Perhaps this is why espresso coffee, which originated in Italy, is very popular in coffee shops, restaurants and pastry shops. However, in specialized coffee shops in São Paulo, it is not only espresso that you will find. Coffee with milk and cappuccino (coffee, milk, chocolate) are always on the menu. If you prefer coffees with a lot of aroma and less intensity, you can choose filtered coffee or coffee made in a French Press. Iced coffee is not a tradition here but it has won over palates, especially on very warm days.

.Supermarkets

However, everyday coffee is found in supermarkets, where it is sold on a large scale, with various types and brands available. Many Brazilians have the habit of making coffee and drinking it at home before leaving for work or school. Compared to countries in Europe, Canada or the United States, for example, the packets of coffee sold in supermarkets in Brazil are worth it because they are really much cheaper. If you know how to choose a good brand, you will make a very advantageous purchase. See below some quality brands according to the test carried out and published by Jornal Estadão (the local newspaper).
