Unlike many cities in the United States or Europe, where shopping malls are often located on the outskirts of the city, shopping malls in Sao Paulo are fully integrated into the urban zone and being present in practically all regions of the city.
The number of shopping mall in the city of São Paulo including metropolitan region is impressive, there are more than 50. After all, we are talking about a population of around 20 million inhabitants. With varied profiles, shopping malls are located in both premium areas and outskirts, and offer stores and services according to the public they serve. There is often a food court, cinema, parking and children’s leisure space. The first one
Shopping Iguatemi is the oldest, it was opened in 1966 and was the first in Sao Paulo and Brazil.

The most traditional
Present in the lives of São Paulo residents since the 1980s decade and with a good number of stores since the beginning, the most traditional are Shopping Ibirapuera, Shopping Morumbi, Shopping Eldorado, Shopping Center Norte and Shopping Pátio Paulista.

The biggest
The largest shopping malls are located in peripheral neighborhoods.
1st – Shopping Leste Aricanduva is the largest in the city and is located in the East Zone of Sao Paulo. There are around 600 stores, 3 food courts, 18 Mc Donalds stores and 14 cinemas (it is the largest in the city). Address: Avenida Aricanduva, 5555.
2nd – Shopping Interlagos, located in the south zone of São Paulo. Address: Avenida Interlagos, 2255.
3rd – Shopping União, located in the city of Osasco, metropolitan region. Address: Avenida dos Autonomistas, 1400.
